Regional venue management company AEG Ogden has won the contract to operate the new Te Pae events centre in Christchurch.
The multi-function complex, set on the banks of the Avon River, will include a 1,400-seat concert auditorium, exhibition space and 24 meeting rooms, It is set to open in October 2020.
“The positioning of Te Pae as a boutique, authentic, international-standard events and meeting hub will act as a catalyst for the city’s activation by ensuring its complete integration into the city fabric,” says AEG Ogden chairman and CEO Harvey Lister.
“We intend to apply our global expertise to showcase Christchurch’s world-class innovation, techniques, research and best practices in the city’s key industry sectors of Earth Science, Health Science, International Education, Agriculture, ICT and Building Technology.
Other venues managed by AEG Ogden include Australia’s Suncorp Stadium (cap. 52,500) in Brisbane, Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (cap. 4,000), ICC Sydney (9,000) and Perth Entertainment Centre (8,000), as well as the United Arab Emirates Dubai Arena (20,000), due to opening later this year.
