Global venue management company AEG Facilities has been selected to operate the Buenos Aires Arena, a 16,000-capacity venue under construction in the Villa Crespo district of the capital.

The arena, located in the heart of the city and accessible by two train lines and19 bus routes, is expected to open in mid-2019 and host around 100 events per year.

AEG was appointed by the Buenos Aires Arena company, controlled by media company La Nación.

As part of the multi-year agreement, AEG will handle all aspects of the venue’s operations including booking, ticketing, marketing, sponsorship, security and VIP facilities.

Arena management will be overseen from AEG’s regional headquarters in São Paulo, Brazil, headed by executive director Venancio Castro.

“Buenos Aires is one of the leading entertainment and sport markets in the world and now it will be serviced by a world-class venue,” said AEG Facilities US-based CEO Chuck Steedman.

The deal follows AEG Facilities’ appointment as operator of Uruguay’s Antel Arena (cap, 10,000) in Montevideo, with the venue set to open later this year.
