Amazon makes arena climate pledge

World News
July 14, 2020

ONLINE RETAIL giant Amazon has secured a naming rights deal with venue management company Oak View Group (OVG), to rebrand the 18,100-capacity KeyArena in Seattle as Climate Pledge Arena.

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos says the name is “a regular reminder of the urgent need for climate action”, and the venue will become the first net zero carbon-certified arena in the world.

The arena is undergoing a $900 million renovation after which it will be powered solely by renewable energy sources, and set to ro-open in summer 2021.
