UNITED KINGDOM

Rveading Festival has sold-out in advance despite its capacity having been increased by 5,000 to 105,000 this year.

It is the second consecutive year that the event, organised by Festival Republic, has had its capacity increased by 5,000.

The festival will take place from 23–25 August, simultaneously with twin event the Leeds Festival (80,000).

Having worked to decrease the amount of waste produced at the festival by 40 per cent since 2009, Reading and Leeds organisers have pledged to make the events “single-use plastic free” by 2021.

Recycled plastic water bottles will be used at the event this year and attendees have been asked to bring refillable bottles. Free merchandise and tickets for next year’s events are being used as incentives to encourage fans to recycle waste items.

Foo Fighters, the 1975, Post Malone and Twenty One Pilots will headline the festivals, while other acts performing include Bastille, Billie Eilish, Charli XCX and Royal Blood.

Weekend tickets cost £205 ($229), with day tickets at £69.50 ($77.5).
