Bandit has Hangout covered

With artistes including The Killers, The Chainsmokers and Kendrick Lamar headlining the 40,000-capacity Hangout Festival in Alabama, lighting supplier Bandit says it had to select a wide range of fixtures while accommodating any special effects brought by individual artistes.

The mainstage featured over 200 fixtures, while Bandit also supplied lighting for two of the festival’s other stages.

“The brief for the mainstage was for the system to be able to work for the three headliners and have enough toys for bands earlier in the day to have some punch in daylight if needed,” says Bandit production director Dizzy Gosnell. “It helped enormously that the headliners had sent out their needs weeks ahead of the design, build, and prep.”

Mainstage fixtures included Martin Atomic 3000 Strobes, VL 3500 Washes, VL 3000 Spots, Chauvet Illuminarc Panel 80 LED Washes, Clay Paky Sharpys, 8 Lite fixtures and four Lycian M2 spots with two grandMA 2 full consoles for control.

“The mainstage also featured our new truss weather protection system on the 60ft front truss, which had a full, evacuation-level storm workout on Thursday night,” says Gosnell. “But there was not one damp light the next morning.”
