Cordia, the live music arm of multi-media company Because Group, has acquired a 50 per cent stake in independent promoter Super!.

The deal was signed on 31 October, the day before Super!’s Pitchfork Paris Festival (cap. 13,500) in Paris, and brings Corida’s growing list of promoters to four.

Super! was created 12 years ago by Julien Catala and is based in Paris and works with artistes such as Mumford & Sons, The xx, Disclosure, Bon Iver and Jungle.

“This new partnership will enable Super! to develop its booking activities, festival production and special events and continue to expand,” says Catala.

“In a globalised industry with multinational operators, being part of an independent group remains crucial to the Super! concept and the whole team.”

Corida MD Olivier Darbois adds, “Julien will continue to operate Super! independently, while we will offer him our expertise and strength to help him expand.”

Super! is also executive producer of Red Bull Music Festival and is the curator of the Villette Sonique Festival, both in Paris, which was headlined last year by Mogwai.
