Pan-Europe ticketing company CTS Eventim has strengthened its position in the Italian market with the acquisition of a 60 per cent stake in promoter Friends and Partners (F&P).

The deal follows the German giant taking a 51 per cent share in Milan-based promoter Vertigo (see Audience issue 212) two months ago. CTS also owns Italian ticketing company Ticketone.

Founded in 2001 by Ferdinando Salzano, F&P, which was previously in partnership with Warner Music, works on tours with artistes such as Ligabue, Laura Pausini, Claudio Baglioni and Zucchero.

“There are many artistes that have long been addressing an international audience and our aim is to offer them Europe-wide touring opportunities and efficient ticketing services under the CTS Eventim umbrella,” says CTS CEO Klaus-Peter Schulenberg.

Salzano will continue to manage F&P, which will become part of CTS’s live division Medusa.

“Our joint aim is to project the Friends & Partners success story into the future,” he says.

Meanwhile Ticketmaster has moved into the market with the launch of Ticketmaster Italia and appears to only be offering tickets to events orqanised by parent company Live Nation Entertainment.
