The final day of the 80,000-capacity Rock in Rio Lisboa will feature an all-female line-up on its main stage.
Katy Perry, Jessie J and Hailee Steinfeld will be among the performers at Lisbon’s Bela Vista Park.
Founded in 2004, the festival which is staged every other year, will also welcome the addition of a new stage, Music Valley, for the first time with concerts by Portuguese acts and electronic music events.
“Each stage completes the experience of a group of friends or family, who are not the same people or like the same things, but can enjoy the same environment,” says executive vice-president of Rock in Rio Roberta Medina.
Other acts appearing at the festival, between 23-24 June and 29-30 June, include Muse, Bastille, Bruno Mars and The Killers. Day tickets cost from €75 ($96).
Created by Brazilian marketing entrepreneur Robert Medina, Rock in Rio began in Rio de Janeiro in 1985, when it featured artistes including Queen and Iron Maiden, drawing a reported audience of 1.38 million over 10 days. It also launched in Madrid, Spain, in 2008.
