PROMOTER FLASH Entertainment and property developer Miral are building a 18,000-capacity indoor arena in Abu Dhabi.

This means the UAE will have two arenas 80 miles apart, the other being Dubai’s Coca Cola Arenas (cap. 20,000), operated by AEG Ogden Middle East (see Audience issue 235).

The multi-use venue, which will host concerts, sporting events, musicals, exhibitions and e-sports, is set to open next year as part of the newly-developed bay on Yas Island.

“Our work with Miral to bring a state-of-the-art, multi-purpose indoor arena to Yas Bay has culminated in the creation of one of the region’s most exciting and versatile venues, further underlining Yas Island’s reputation as leading global destination for world-class entertainment,” says Flash CEO of entertainment John Lickrish.

“As an indoor venue we’ll also be able to put in place a year-round calendar of events that appeal to all tastes. This will be a major driver of growth for the entertainment and cultural sector in Abu Dhabi.”

Yas Bay Arena general manager Brint Jackson says “The arena will be a new landmark for entertainment, occupying an easily accessible, iconic space on the Yas Island skyline that will set new heights of excellence for live events.”

Along with the arena, Yas Bay will also be home to array of leisure amenities.
