THE EUROPEAN Arenas Association has appointed UK-based AEG Europe chief operating officer John Langford as its president.

Langford succeeds Ahoy Rotterdam CEO Peter Van Der Veer, who stepped down earlier this year.

“Exciting changes in technology, the opportunity to make a positive impact through sustainability initiatives and participating in the wider European conversations that impact our members and audiences are just a few of the areas where we are making a difference,” says Langford, who is vice-president and general manager of London’s The O2 (cap. 21,000).

His previous roles include director of live entertainment at Scotland’s The SSE Hydro (14,300) and chief operating officer at leading South African promoter BIG Concerts International.
