Live Nation Australia has announced the appointment of Neil Cox as general manager of Melbourne’s Palais Theatre (cap. 2,896) in St Kilda.

The company has also announced 13 community projects as recipients of the inaugural Palais Theatre Community Fund.

Cox joins the venue from New Zealand’s Isaac Theatre Royal (1,292) in Christchurch, where he was general manager and chief executive since 2008.

“Neil has extensive experience and incredibly strong relationships within venues, promoters and producers across the Australasian industry, which will give him a flying start when he takes over the reins,” says Live Nation Australia CEO Roger Field.

Cox says, “The past 10 years at the Isaac Theatre Royal have been extremely varied, massively challenging but ultimately very rewarding. Moving from one iconic venue in New Zealand to an equally iconic and historic venue in Melbourne is a challenge that I relish.”

Artistes playing the Palais Theatre include Cheap Trick, Bruce Dickinson, Dionne Warwick, The Wombats, Rodger Hodgson and Leon Bridges.
