Maintaining pitch quality was the top priority when The Netherlands-based Mojo Barriers protected the entire playing field at Sydney’s Spotless Stadium for dance event Sensation (cap. 30,000).
The venue is home to cricket and Australian Football League teams Sydney Thunder and Greater Western Sydney (GWS) Giants, respectively, who general manager of the company’s Australian operation Craig Edwards says needed a perfect playing surface once the event was over.
The project follows Mojo’s decision last year to become a supplier of Supa-Trac by British company Rola-Trac and saw the company install 15,000 square metres of the product, enhanced by a layer of protective Enkamat under the areas with the highest crowd density. Additionally, the company provided 500 metres of aluminum Mojo Barrier, laid out in a “D” configuration, protecting crowds for artistes including Deadmau5, Showtek and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. The installation and removal took 34 truck movements and over 850 man hours.
“It was great to be able to showcase our logistical capabilities installing Supa-Trac and barrier as a combined service, and to be instrumental in one of the largest stadium field covers in Australia,” says Edwards.
Sensation event manager Joshua Green adds, “Supa-Trac doesn’t leave indentations on the turf and a sporting event can be held the next day. By coupling the supply of flooring and barriers, Mojo delivered further efficiencies.”
