Live Nation President and CEO Michael Rapino was the third highest paid CEO in the United States in 2017 with $70.6 million in earnings, according to the Equilar 200 Highest Paid CEO Rankings that are conducted annually for The New York Times.

The survey was limited to publicly traded companies with more than $1 billion in revenue, which had filed proxy statements with the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) between 1 January and 30 April 2018. CEOs also had to be in their current position for at least two years.

CEO pay was calculated based on salary, bonus, stock awards, stock option awards, deferred compensation and other benefits and perks. Rapino’s 2017 earnings include a base salary of $2.4m, a $7.7m cash bonus, $58.6m in stock options, $1.7m in other options, a $1m bonus for the company achieving its goals for adjusted operating income and $80,000 in perks, as filed with the SEC.
