GLOBAL VENUE owner and operator AEG has teamed-up with CJ LiveCity Corporation, a subsidiary of media giant CJ Group, to build a 20,000-capacity, multi-purpose arena in the capital Seoul’s Goyang City, Gyeonggi Province.

Provisionally called Seoul Metropolitan Arena, the venue will be part of an entertainment district, CJ LiveCity, that will include a studio complex and a range of leisure facilities, and attract 20 million visitors a year.

“We believe that the combination of CJ LiveCity and the new Seoul Metropolitan Arena will revolutionize Korea and the region’s entertainment landscape,” says AEG Asia president and CEO Adam Wilkes.

AEG owns venues such as America’s Staples Center (cap. 20,000) in Los Angeles, UK arena The O2 (21,000) in London and Germany’s Mercedes-Benz Arena (18,000) in Berlin. It also operates China’s Mercedes Benz Arena (18,000) in Shanghai.
