Shania in motion with MagicPanel

Constant motion and changing looks were the brief for creative director and lighting designer Rob Sinclair for Shania Twain’s Shania Now tour.

He based the show on five automated LED video cubes which each served as a platform for dancers and band members.

“With the band, the video cubes and the dancers in constant motion, we needed to find some square-faced lights to complement the cubes,” says Sinclair, explaining his decision to use MagicPanel-602 fixtures by French manufacturer Ayrton.

In total, he deployed 100 of the fixtures, setting them into five overhead pods each with 20 units arranged in a five by four configuration, for shows at venues including USA’s Wells Fargo Arena (cap. 16,100) in Des Moines, Canada’s Air Canada Centre (19,800) in Toronto and New Zealand’s Spark Arena (12,000) in Auckland.
