Stockholm is to become the third European city to host international festival brand Lollapalooza, with the location being described as “the perfect match” by organisers.
The festival, which is already held in Germany’s Berlin and France’s Paris, will take place at Gärdet from 28-29 June next year and consist of four stages. C3 Presents, Live Nation Sweden, WME and Perry Farrell are producing the festival.
“The historic Gärdet and the iconic festival Lollapalooza is the perfect match,” says chairman of Live Nation international Thomas Johansson. “For decades we have been wanting to do a really big festival in Stockholm.”
Founded in 1991 as a touring festival, Lollapalooza is now also staged in Chicago, US, Sao Paulo, Brazil, Buenos Aires, Argentina and Santiago, Chile. It has featured performances from acts including Lady Gaga, Eminem, Lorde and Bruno Mars across the world.
“It takes years of research and planning to determine the right cities to host Lollapalooza, and we never take the decision lightly,” says Charles Attal, a partner at C3. “With its incredible culture, vibrant music scene and beautiful green spaces, Stockholm proved to be an ideal city to add to our growing international family.”
The festival line-up will be announced later this year.
