Theme park ticks festival boxes

The German arm of Rolling Stone magazine and promoter FKP Scorpio are continuing their partnership with the launch of a new indoor music festival for 2018.

Rolling Stone Park (cap. 5,000) will be held in the convention centre of Europa-Park in Rust, the country’s biggest theme park, with more than 30 acts performing across four stages.

The festival is a sister event to FKP and Rolling Stone’s existing Rolling Stone Weekender event on the Baltic coast. It follows a similar all-inclusive model, with the ticket price, starting at €189 ($225) including entry, accommodation, parking and breakfast.

“In 2009 we organised the Rolling Stone Weekender together for the first time,” says FKP MD Folkert Koopmans. “Back then, we had to convince the audience of the concept of combining rock’n’roll with a short holiday. Nowadays, the festival sells out well in advance.

“Similar events are missing in the south of Germany, and with Europa-Park we have found the perfect location to bridge this gap.”

The programming for the event will also include lectures, exhibitions, record fairs and after-show parties.

Rolling Stone Park will take place on 16-17 November, 2018.
