Ticketmaster resale sites finally close

World News
January 2, 2019

Ticketmaster has confirmed the closure of its resale websites GetMeIn (GMI) and Seatwave across the continent, following the launch of its new fan-to-fan platform, which allows the resale of tickets at the price paid for them.

Observers believe the company bowed to increasing pressure – predominantly in the UK – on the Big Four secondary sites, the other two being eBay owned StubHub and Viagogo from artistes, fans, industry figures, the government, watchdogs and media. Seatwave also carried an accumulated loss of £6 million ($7.58m).
