Time of the essence for Wang Feng

Audio engineer Shaogang Jin says he needed a tough touring system with extensive coverage for The Times tour by Wang Feng.

Performing in 30 cities at venues including Beijing’s National Stadium (cap. 80,000) and Shenzhen Bay Sports Center (20,000), the home grown rock artiste preferred that no delays should impede sightlines and asked Lab Beijing to supply a K system by French manufacturer L-Acoustics.

The system comprised 44 K1 units, 96 K2 units and 24 Kara boxes, plus 24 K1-SB and 40 SB28 subs. The K1 and Kara were used for the main hangs, with K2 for outfill and Kara for frontfill. Jin says he achieved consistent bass at diverse venues with flown K1-SB and ground stacked SB28 subwoofers. The PA was driven by 86 LA8 amplifier controllers.

“The powerful throw of the L-Acoustics K system, plus its rugged and waterproof design and ease of tuning were the main reasons I chose the system,” says Jin.

He designed the system coverage in each venue with L‑Acoustics 3D modelling programme, Soundvision.
