One of the highlights of next year’s 100,000-capacity Download Festival for programmer Andy Copping is the return of Tool to the bill.

The 14 to 16 June Live Nation Entertainment-promoted event, which takes place at Donington Park in Leicestershire, will also feature co-headliners Slipknot and Def Leppard.

“It’s not quite been 10,000 days since we have been able to indulge in one of our favourite alt-rock bands, but after 13 years I am thrilled to announce Tool are finally making their long-awaited return to Download,” says Copping.

“Renowned for being one of the best live bands on the planet due to their one-of-a-kind performances, Slipknot are an incredible addition to the main stage.

“Last but not least, I am honoured to welcome back true rock ’n’ roll legends Def Leppard, who bring with them a UK exclusive chance to see Hysteria played in full.”

Other artistes apprearing include Whitesnake,  Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Trivium and Reel Big Fish.

An early-bird, three-day standard camping ticket costs £200 ($256).
