WiZink celebrates 500

The WiZink Center (cap. 15,000) in Madrid, celebrated its 500th concert with a show by local artiste Dani Martin, former frontman of El Canto del Loco, this month.

The venue opened in 2005 and has hosted shows by artistes such as Queen, Bruce Spingsteen, ACDC, Elton John, U2, Metallica, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, Muse and Lady Gaga.

Average annual attendance at the venue is more han 1.5 million, with 2017 scoring the highest number of events so far with 156, of which 75 were concerts.

The arena was built on the site of the Palacio de Deportes de la Comunidad de Madrid, which was destroyed by a fire in 2001, having opened in 1960.
