THE WORLD Music Expo (Womex) has confirmed the first round of speakers for its conference sessions.

The five-day trade fair takes place on 23-27 October and will welcome over 2,700 international delegates to Tampere for performances, network meetings and conference sessions.

Among the speakers is co-founder of Music Export Ukraine’s Alona Dmukhovska, who will bring an international panel for Music During the Revolutions and Social Instability.

Elsewhere, musical polymath and activist Airileke Ingram will chair a panel on The Music of Indigenous Sovereignty, and Shanghai-based Alessandro Pavanello will lead an Introduction to Chinese Streaming and Social Media.

Some of the network meetings include Leadership Think Tank, which aims to build relationships among executive directors as peers, Womex Education Network Meeting, for delegates with an interest in music education, and the second edition of Independent Labels Network Meeting.

This year the festival’s regional stage will showcase talent from the Nordic region, as well as Estonia and Lithuania.

Tickets range between €31.50 ($34) for one day and €82.50 ($92) for a three-day pass.
